Shane Fero has been a flameworker for 35 years and maintains a studio next to Penland School in North Carolina.

He participates in international symposia and demonstrations and has exhibited worldwide. Some recent exhibtions include: "3rd Annual International Flamework Conference" in Carny's Point, NJ; "GlassWeekend '03" at Wheaton Village in Milliville, NJ; and "Solo Exhibition" at R. Duane Reed Gallery in St Louis, MO.

Fero is also an educator and has taught at institutions such at Penland School, Urban Glass, the Pratt Fine Arts Center, the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, the University of Michigan, Pilchuck Glass School, Bild-Werk, Frauenau, Germany, the International Glass Festival in Stourbridge, UK, and in Seto and the Niijima Glass Art Center in Japan.

His work has received special notice in numerous publications, including, American Craft, Who's Who In American Arts, Glass, and Profitable Glass Quarterly.

Shane's pieces can be found in both private collections and public institutions worldwide. His work is currently in the permanent collections of the Izu-Kogen Tombotama Museum in Ito City, Japan; the New Orleans Museum of Art in Louisiana; the Bank of Amreica Corporate Collection in Tampa, FL; the Glasmusuem in Ebeltoft, Denmark; and the Museum of American Glass in Millville, NJ.
